Question by Dave Vendetta: Advertising Help… I have an ad “tea party” type cafe that mostly caters to women. How can I attract men?
the cafe serves sandwiches, pastries, tea, wine, and beer, it’s sort of like (if your familiar) The La Bou cafe. Now we have a small advertising paper (very small) and don’t have access to an ad firm that we can send it too, and I myself am a graphic designer by trade but graphics aren’t the same as designing ads, to attract a specific demographic. So what can I do, I need some kind of advice… preferably cheap or free.

Hey Dave:

You get what you pay for… ;)

If you want men to come to your place, offer them something they want.

Sports. Women….
Workplace specials.
Test and measure. ASk other guys what would attract them to come there.

“Done for you email marketing”

A fancy ad with graphics won’t do it.

    Dear Dave,
If you don’t have the expertise to create ad. Then hire one. Everybody has his/her own expertise. Like you, you have the expertise in hospitality business. You ran a cafe, that’s a hospitality business. I don’t have that expertise to make baggle nor sandwich.
Dave in this world, customer taste images and experience. Your customer taste your cafe images, your customer taste your cafe experience. Now let me ask you one question, did your ad do sell your cafe to the men? Beside your small size ad, your targeting to wide costumer. You said you want to target men? All men? Does it including convict? Which one do you prefer? Murderer or Raper?
I’m sure you don’t target those men, right? So…be more specific. Say,”I want men who is in the age of 20-40, who is an office worker nearby my cafe”. That’s much better. If you don’t be specific enough, I will have enough headache to make your ad.
One thing for sure Dave, everyone has their own expertise. Don’t waste your time think about something that you don’t know. Find someone do know. Don’t you think it is better for you to make some new menu for your cafe? I’ll bet you know how to make pastries better than I do.

Here, I have a website. Not too fancy, but perhaps you can find something that can help you out.

    Hey, Dave. Just have fun.
